Preview: time entry sync across PSA platforms

When an MSP brings in a specialist partner to handle part of a ticket, the arrangement usually works well operationally. The work gets done, the client's issue gets resolved, and the two businesses move on. What often doesn't work is the record of what happened.

Time logged by the specialist partner sits in their platform. Time logged by the managing MSP sits in theirs. Neither system talks to the other, and the client ends up with a bill that doesn't reflect the full picture of work done on their behalf.

This isn't a billing problem in isolation. It's a visibility problem. The managing MSP has made a commitment to their client and brought in a partner to fulfil part of it. If they can't see what time was logged and when, they can't hold that partnership to account, and they can't accurately represent the work to the client.

Why the gap exists

PSA platforms are built around individual businesses, not partnerships between them. ConnectWise, Autotask and HaloPSA are each excellent at managing time and billing within their own environment. What they weren't designed to do is share that data with each other in real time.

The result is that managed partnerships involving more than one platform have always required some degree of manual reconciliation. Someone has to check what the partner logged, translate it into the managing MSP's system, and make sure the totals line up before billing runs. That process is slow, prone to error, and adds administrative overhead to every partnership arrangement.

What time entry sync does

Support Fusion already synchronises tickets between PSA and ITSM platforms. Time entry sync extends that capability to the hours logged against those tickets.

When a managing MSP passes a ticket to a specialist partner, any time entries logged by either party now flow across to the linked ticket on the other side. Both businesses see the same record of work. The hours roll up correctly, and the managing MSP can bill the end client accurately without manual reconciliation.

The feature supports ConnectWise, Autotask and HaloPSA, with two-way sync so entries flow in both directions across the partnership.

See it in action

In this week's product update, Steve walks through a working demo of the feature. He shows a ticket passing from a managing MSP to a specialist networking partner, with time entries syncing across in real time.

Join the preview

Time entry sync is currently in preview. We're working with a small group of MSPs to refine the feature before broader release, and we're looking for partners who operate managed partnerships across ConnectWise, Autotask or HaloPSA.

If that describes your business and you'd like to get involved, we'd like to hear from you. Get in touch and let us know how your partnerships are structured.
